I have just started on a couple of activities outside of this "company" and I have to be there for them on certain days at a certain time. I went to the chamber of WTF known as e-schedule and changed my availability to accommodate this. I was also on vacation this week when I made the changes, so I figured that would be enough time for the changes to take effect. Imagine my surprise when I went to copy down next weeks' schedule only to find that nothing happened. Went to the CCS asking if I could switch my days around. The response was nope, can't do it, e-schedule is done, etc, etc, etc. I'm going to talk to one of the employees in my department and see if they will switch shifts. The question is how long do I have to wait until these changes go into the "system" or am I condemned to fighting this "company" from controlling my life?

It may be like you changed it next week but don't get your hopes too high. At my store they start working on it on Sunday. They do not post it until Friday after lunch. That is enough to drive people crazy. They should post it on Thursday.
I think you need to make changes 2 or 3 weeks in advance for them to take effect. You can't change it one week and expect them to go into effect the next. Your HR should've explained that to you.
