temps on the back dock

corporate, you want more production, how about you give us some decent working conditions?  Hours are **** so we have one person to go sort a 500-1000 piece grocery truck when the outside temperature is 100 degrees.  It's pretty close to that on the dock and there's NO BREEZE.  Is someone going to have to pass out and die from the heat before they realize how ****ty the conditions are?

OP here I forgot to mention this:  our uniforms are black (one of the hottest colors) and after sorting a truck for a good hour-hour and a half we're all sweaty then we're supposed to go out and interact with the public....yeah that's a good idea.  One solution is to take our shirts off while we sort, but we can't do that because the ladies in the deli will get offended if they come back and see we have bigger boobs than they do!  For ****'s sake, it's hot, I'd be in my underwear if I could!

I'd take a bucket (make sure it's hidden well) and fill it with water as needed. Pour over the top of you as needed to keep cool and drink plenty of cool water. A person's well being SUPERCEDES interacting with the public ANY day at ANY time. Also it supercedes getting a truck sorted. If your past out, it's not doing good for anybody

This is why i will go in n tell my CSR i am taking a short cool down if the temps are that hot. Nothing beats the liquor cooler on a hot day. Or dairy or Frozen. Also why I wear a Fitbit on duty, to make sure that I am taking care of myself n if I am not, then it will tell me when i check it.

I almost was bout to bitch at a CSR though who kept ME out on lot for 2 hours 45 minutes on the second hottest day we had so far (upper to mid 90s, heat index of 103-106. While she had 3 other UCs rotate with me. But I get lip when I ask to cool down because someone needs to be on lot after I come into the store from a 45 minute stint going through 3 water bottles sweating like a pig... Fug that ****e. Was really ready to page for Management at that point when she yelled at me.

Must be an old store. Your store needs a remodel if you are doing that in the heat.

we've had 2 remodels in the time I've been there.  At one point they actually put the rubber doors between the dock and the back hallway (keeping any little bit of heat or a/c from reaching whoever was working the dock!

My argument against "well those doors open and close all the time, we'd be letting warm or cold air out of the store" is "what about the front doors?"

What kind of improvements would a crew expect to see with a remodel that would solve the ridiculous temps on the back dock issue?
