Do others get the feeling that they're aiming to fire people when they get hurt at work these days? We haven't had any "on the job" injuries recently, or so they say...but we have had people off work because they were hurt. Makes me think they were too scared to say their injuries occured at work. Almost anything that's wrong with us can probably be attributed to work. Your back starts hurting, so you lift with your knees, then they start hurting. The new "more work in less time" certainly isn't helping matters. We're supposed to ask for help when lifting something too heavy for one person (team lift!) but often, there's only one person in grocery and he's not going to page someone to the back just to help him lift soemthing heavy from the top of a grocery pallet (speaking of that, why the **** do they put the heaviest blue totes on teh top of the stack!).
Baggers have the opportunity to get hit by stupid ass drivers so it doesn't matter how safe a person is, things happen that are beyond our control!
I've been to the doctor before with what can easily be attributed to work injuries, but because there wasn't A SINGLE INCIDENT, I got the run around. "what date did the injury take place" -----There was no single "injury", my back and knees ****ing hurt from lifting ****! This has to be common with this type of work!
Nowadays they act like they can fire you for getting hurt on the job, maybe that's why there's fewer injuries lately.

I got hurt a few times while dragging a 1-2k pound ice pallet because they wouldn't let me use the power jack. I told them i hurt my back and they just told me i need a back brace and stuff. The back pain lasted for about 2 weeks i couldn't lay down or do any physical activities, im already in shape but the other person i was working with is lazy would never help me do ice so i do it by myself and after i got hurt twice i was like **** it im not doing it and eventually the other person started helping after getting yelled at by the Store manager about the coolers not being filled. Don't hurt yourself man they are quick to fire people and will try work you through your injuries
I remember the parties - they get for it a couple dozen of those shiitty donuts & cookies from the bakery, two or three pails of that cheap 'valu saver' ice cream, some bags of Kroger potato chips, and if they really want to kill you they'll cook up some JTM hamburgers
As a bagger / UC, that is precisely why I never trust the store vests and will wear my own (mines a Class 2 5 point break vs Class 1 non break.) So if I get snagged, I don't go with. I've been nearly grabbed once and luckily the driver saw that the vest somehow snagged the mirror and it tore off me as I just had stumbled a bit rather then going under the tires.) Yea freaking close calls don't even begin to cut it.
