What is the procedure for filing for retirement from Kroger? I will be eligible for Social Security at the end of the summer and was wondering what I need to do. Do I need to give a two-week notice? How does this work?

You give 2 weeks notice. On your last day, you fill out your termination papers and be sure you get a copy. Be sure that the proper box is checked. That's it!! It's done online and be sure the store mgr. is there with you. In about 2 days you will get your final paychecks. This will be your accrued sick and vacation time and also your final weekly paycheck. Best wishes. I retired last year after 41 years.

Tomorrow, contact your union pension dept, and they will send you all the paperwork for retirement benefits. You will need a copy of your birth certificate. You choose at that time if you wish retirement medical and dental. Be sure to sign up for auto deposit. You will need to give them a blank check, marked void for this.

The box you check on the termination paper will be "retirement". It will be in the section asking why you are leaving and be sure you mark "OK for rehire"
