Left a few months ago because of pay. Lately I've heard the 1996 negotiations might get pay up to $9 an hour. Would that apply to courtesy clerks? Should I apply again now so that I'd be in before the raises take affect? Are these raises real at all?
There is no raise. Kroger is in big financial trouble. Too many of the fools that shop here have realized they would save a lot more shopping at other stores. Sales are too low for a raise.

Gonna need some sources for that friend-o. Last I heard Kroger made huge profits and is the largest traditional grocery chain in the US.
People already know local, regional grocery chains have cheaper meat and produce than Kroger... people go to Kroger because they are typically nice stores and with friendlier people + more dedicated departments like Produce, Bakery, etc.
But need some sources for those claims. Good if true, though.
Kroger has seen loss in the most recent report, not nearly as bad friend-o implied it to be. Kroger isn't in "big financial trouble." It just isn't performing amazingly from a financial perspective.
I am hearing from my Local 1996 union rep that the front end WILL be included in the hopefully negotiated pay raises. He said the front end "has gone far too long" without raises at the expense of other departments (like meat and produce.) They are pushing hard for minimum $9.00 an hour across the board for ALL departments. Was asked yesterday how negotiations were going-anyone know?
