Payroll, Attendance, and orientation.

One of the cashiers does payroll and orientation she told me that one day she simply asked/told management that she wanted to start doing payroll. (She didn't say anything about orientation.) She then told me that they might need someone to come in during the week and look at attendance  (currently one of the Assistant Managerstore does this. I want to at least ask management if I could do this as a way to pick up extra hours. Our store is currently being remodeled an expanded so the attendance workload might be too much for the assistant manager to do herself. What is the best way to go about asking management if I could do this?

I know at my store, only the "core 3" (store director / two co managers) of Management may access that and any other info as it is considered employer - to - employee confidential, so it acts the same as our personnel file, which no one but core management will ever get access to as those files are kept under entirely separate physical / electronic lock and key. Plus you have to have a management level computer login (which has to be approved by store director / district coordinator and then forwarded to IT) to access them electronically to get to them on the network.

Don't know how you guys do it, but that's breaking a-lot of "no no's" both by union contract, legal, and corporate policies / laws by my side of the woods. Which if you access another employee's information without approval or do something stupid, you can be term'ed, arrested, and jailed on the spot.

Yeah, idk what division the OP works in, but something seems weird to me. The store i'm at now is the smallest in our district and yet there's still a store manager, two co-managers, and an HR/ARM who are the only ones who have access to things like that.
