Put in my "Notice to leave" or just get as lazy as the rest of them???

I never quit, but this place makes me think about doing it everyday. I don't know whether to give them notice or just slack until they fire me. They nit-pick about everything I do while watching the others stand around doing nothing. The management will stand there talking to lazy ones while customers are waiting and I'm actually busy doing something. I have to stop in the middle of handling raw meat, wash my hands, and take of customers, then back to the raw meat, while they are standing in the same spot the whole time watching and gossiping. They then have the gull to ask me 'what are the 3 A's'. Why don't they ask themselves that? They are the ones not Acknowledging, Assisting, or Appreciating the customers. They are the ones who think their gossip comes first, not the customers.

Quit. You're obviously not happy there.

Line up a new job and then quit.

What I've learned in the 6+ years of working for Kroger is management/department heads a lot of times like to divide up employees into two groups: the slackers and the hard workers. Management and department heads know that it's no use yelling at/writing up/pressuring the slackers to do their part so they don't even waste the time. Instead, management and department heads zero in on the hard workers and push them to do their work plus the work of the lazy ones. Management and department heads know this strategy works because the hard workers have a good work ethic and are likely to give in to the pressure to do even more and work even harder. One management and your department head has classified you as one of the hard workers, becoming "just as lazy" as the rest of them is no longer an option because management and your department head won't allow it.

I was in a similar boat. I got tired of hearing my department head say that I "pick up a lot of the slack around here" and being used by management for ten million things that wasn't a part of my job... so I transferred stores. The store I transferred to started out better than my first but eventually became worse than my first as I again got used and exploited by management, so I again transferred stores. Now, I'm happier than I've ever been at Kroger. I enjoy going in everyday and I also enjoy thinking about how I'm no longer at my old stores making other peoples' lives and jobs easier while being royally screwed over day in and day out.

Sorry to hear it's getting that bad for you. I know you had mentioned in another thread about having a second job which is great, that you don't already have to look for one. However, is there no way you could possibly talk about what you have been with your union steward and maybe get them to set up a meeting with you and your DH or someone above the DH, that might be willing to actually TRY and make a difference on your be half? And see how things go from there. But, I would give it deadline to see if anything changes before making up your mind.

But honestly, if that doesn't work out or happen. I think you should put in your notice. Heck a chick that had come in with me(as well as 2 others) have all recently quit in the last few weeks of each other. So can more than understand being fed up with how things are going and how you are being treated as well. It is beyond ****ty for sure. And from what you have been describing, sounds like they don't come close to valuing you at all.

I would do my job the best Im able to and do no more. They obviously rely on you. That is most likely why the others talk s*** about you. If management don't do anything then you dont either.

DELI CLERK, depending on your particular store, I would suggest you try getting a transfer to another dept, namely PRODUCE.  You might get lucky and end up with a better "set" of employees. Enquire around, and see if the Produce dept in your store works together pretty well, and if there are any "bad apples" among the help there.......it's worth looking into.

From personal experience, I have found that Deli  stays a hellhole most of the time. It doesn't improve. GOOD LUCK, bud!
