Customers role in the check out process
Permalink

The location I work at wants the check out process to be as efficient as possible, even when there are no customers waiting behind the customer we are currently assisting.

Every cashier is supposed to reach a goal that someone in Senior Management came up with.

And that Senior Management employee wants the checkout process to go like clockwork every time.

However, we know that this is challenging with customers who are not in any hurry.

So what is the best solution to this problem regarding those customers?

Ignore the goal honestly. They can't fire you for it and all it will do is out stress on you that you don't deserve from a job that doesn't deserve you. Slow and difficult customers are plenty in the retail industry but unlike Wal-Mart or Whole Foods, Kroger is not equipped with the required personnel to deal with them.

They are grading us down on productivity on evaluations if we aren't meeting 95 percent effiency. It's not an average goal for all of us.
