Transferring departments question
Permalink

Is there a way to transfer departments when there's no opening posted for another department? I really am sick of the department I'm in. I've been there for 15 years and I'm on the verge of quitting. Instead of finding a new job and starting over, I thought maybe I could transfer and have a fresh start in the same company.

Any department, really. Cashier, pharmacy, drug gm, gas station are my most preferred.

Well, they're always needing cashiers, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to be one.

Yes, fill out a DEPT TRANSFER REQUEST form. They should be available in the HR/ store manager's office somewhere, or a manager could print one off for you. Fill out and turn into your Store Manager and also make copies and give a copy to the Dept Head you are interested in, and (if applicable) perhaps to your union rep if you are a member of the union. It may take a while (up to several months) but it is certainly worth a try.

However, there might be issues with senority if you change departments after working at Kroger for 15 years. Perhaps someone on this discussion group can chime in with more info on that aspect.
