I work in Southwest Division and my store still has people that cut meat. I think they've scaled back just how much they cut nowadays and more and more, stuff is coming in prepackaged, but I feel like it would be a mistake for Kroger to do away with that service from Meat Market all together. Customers can't go to Walmart or Aldi or even WinCo (at least, I don't think) and get certain kinds of meat cut to their specifications, so that's one thing Kroger has to offer over at least some of the competition in the area. If Kroger has all meat brought in prepackaged and does away with the meat cutting service, then that's just giving customers one less reason to shop at Kroger. They'll go elsewhere and get a better deal on their prepackaged meat or shop at a chain that still offers the service.
