Got backup position, now what?

So after a couple of years of breaking my back and learning as much as I could as a clerk, I have gotten assistant produce lead recently. Now I'm just like what do I do now. I don't want to end up stuck as a backup or even lead for 5+ years like every other dept heads I've worked with. Can I use my new job title on a resume?

Now you work as hard as a back-up as you did to become a back-up (if not harder) so that you stand out and get offered the position of produce department head. If you become a produce department head, and excel in that position, that opens up more possibilities down the road that lead to positions higher up in the company.

...or you use it on your resume in the hopes of landing a different job elsewhere. It all depends on how much you love (or hate) your job.

I second this. Being on good terms with your coordinator can be a very beneficial thing. If your coordinator likes you and is impressed with you, then you may find yourself being offered opportunities and/or positions sooner rather than later.

Yes, no matter what, be as friendly as you can with your coordinator. Ask them questions if needed, show that you care about your job. Of course this depends on how good your coordinator is. But some are nice and actually care about you and want to help.
