When I started working at Kroger I was extremely happy and ready to achieve. Though the only problem is that they trained me for one day. I am having issues with the voiding of items. I know how to do the quick mistake one. Though at the same time it is the other option of voiding of something at the end of the purchase and I have tried the same code I used to ring up the product and it did not work. So I guess my question is are there easier ways to void off things that I have already rung u

Press "void" and scan the item, the customer requested be voided.

If it's "quantity" produce that you're trying to void (bell peppers, lemons, limes, kiwis, pomegrantes, for example), press void, and scan the barcode onthe produce or type in the number you used to ring it up. You press the amount that you're voiding off, then press "Enter".

If you're voiding "by pound" produce (grapes, cherries, apples, pears, eggplant, tomatillos for example) THAT'S where you're probably running into trouble as many times that's a huge pain in the ass even for me.

You'll have to press void, and weigh again while scanning, or press void and weigh again while entering the number, depending on what method yoou used to ring it up.

And if the re-weigh is off by even 000.0001 of an ounce, your register won't allow the void without a "Manager's Override"

That's when you page for your Front End Supervisor and ask for the Override key and tell them why you need it. Happens all the time so they'll give it to you.

If they don't do it for you, press "Clear" then "Override" then scan the barcode on the override card after your attempt at voiding.

Oh and if you're in the third situation and you're in a desperate because it's very late at night, and you're all alone and nobody has an override (Sometimes the late night Uscanner has one, sometimes they don't) just press "Store Coupon" and enter the price amount of whatever the customer wants off of there.

It's doubtful you'll get pulled aside by management over it, but if you do, tell them the register wasn't allowing the void and you had no other way of "making it right" for the customer.

Nevertheless, DO NOT make that a habit, or do that around your FES or CSM.

If you ever need to void produce that needs to be weighed, and the weight is off. Just type the weight in and add .01.
So if let's say you scanned the barcode and the bananas rang up for 0.35 pounds and they're really 0.58 pounds. Obviously you can't just void and reweigh.

What you'll have to do is hit void, scan the barcode again (make sure the scale is zeroed out. 0.00 pounds) then type in the weight + 0.01. So since the bananas rang up for 0.35 you're going to need to type in 36 (for 0.36 pounds).

The reason for this is because of the tare weight or however it is spelled. In order to account for the plastic bags that are often on produce (this is the reasoning I was told/made sense of) they subtract 0.01 to try to keep the weight slightly more fair when the system calculates the price. So an item may weigh 0.58 pounds. But they're only going to charge and ring up as 0.57 pounds.

Hopefully this makes sense. If you need a clearer explanation I can try to explain more in depth or simpler. Whatever works.

Another thing to note is that you have to use the same method to void that you used to ring up the produce.

Scanned produce and Keyed in produce show up in the system slightly different. I'm not sure if you've ever noticed that sometimes the brand name may make it into the name when scanned vs keyed in or etc.
When you are voiding something. The system is looking for the exact item that you want to void. If there is even a slight difference it will not let you void it without an override.

So say bananas.
4011 may ring up as bananas
scanning the barcode has the potential to ring it up as chiquita bananas (this isn't the exact or an accurate example. But I'm hoping this helps make the idea understandable)

bananas =/= chiquita bananas

So if you were to type 4011 to ring up the bananas but then needed to void said bananas
It will only take 4011 as the item youre trying to void
as bananas are not the same as chiquita bananas

Key 4011
Void Key 4011
Void completed

Key 4011
Void Barcode Chiquita Bananas
Item Not Found

Barcode Chiquita Bananas
Void Barcode Chiquita Bananas
Void completed

Barcode Chiquita Bananas
Void Key 4011
Item Not Found

It goes something along those lines.
