Getting re hired at a different store location.

I am a former employee for Kroger. I quit on good terms 6 months ago and moved to a new city. Now I am trying to get hired at the store in my current city (have a interview lined up) and I am wondering and hoping that I will start here with the same pay scale as I left off at. Like the pay steps will be the same because s I was getting close to achieving the next pay step prior to quitting. I know I will find this info out at the interview most likely but was just wondering if anyone here knew as well. Since I am not a 'transfer' technically, I hope it didnt all get cleared out. Hope this makes since.

thanks in advance!

You will be considered a Re-Hire and most likely quality of work experience credits from your past employment. Everything that you earned before (Health Insurance, Vacation, etc) will start over depending on your new Union Contact. If you left on good terms, most likely you will get hired. If they do not give you the work experience credit, look for a job at another retailer (Target, Home Depots, Lowes) which start employees off at higher wages!

So what do the work experience credits do? Sorry, I don't know much about getting re-hired. So since all thebenefits starts over will that mean that my pay scale will reset as well? Also as a re-hire will I have to do the orientation again do you know?

How long did you work at the previous Kroger?

If you didn't have much time, minimum wage might be higher now.

You start at the beginning of the pay scale most likely.

Work experience credits is a fancy way to say experience pay.  I have never heard of anyone getting it but other posters swear that it happens.

If they don't have to retrain you from the beginning, you might actually qualify for experience pay.  Definitely ask about it in the interview.  Probably when they ask you if you have any questions.

Good luck.

You will most likely have to do orientation over again, but might not have to do ACT training depending on how long ago you completed the courses. (Might just have to do a few)

I quit in March and worked there for 7 months. I had already gotten a pay increase in the time I was working there which was (and still is) much higher than minimum wage which is why I am hoping to get rehired at that same wage. My next pay increase would have been quite large which is why I am hoping to regain that same wage progression (not sure the actual name for it but its on Express HR where it tells you how many hours you have until your next raise) that I had when I quit.

I applied for cashier but after thinking it over I am hoping I can go back to my previous position as I think it would be best for everyone as I would know what I'm doing, wouldn't have to be trained etc. But not sure if they're hiring for that position right now.

Normally experience pay is only given to people hired in for the same field their experience is in.

Pet Peeve....of someone that has worked for Kroger more then 1/2 my life. New Associates, Rehired Associates expecting to get higher pay then what is "quoted" and not wanting to actually put the time in and skip steps everyone else has had to do.

Um..I'm not expecting to get a higher pay than what I was previously making which I think would be totally expected for anyone. Why would I want to accept a lower pay than what I was making 6 months ago? Nobody would want that I don't imagine. And I'm not trying trying to skip any steps I was just wondering if I would have to go to the orientation again since I've already done it. don't mind doing it again though if I have to. Not sure why you need to throw shade when I was just asking for some advice. Have a great day!

Thanks for the info. I'm sure it varies somewhat by the store and banner too. Have a good one.

Question: Is the Kroger you're applying at under the same contract as your former store?  If it is, you might be able to pick up where you left off when it comes to pay and seniority.  Some contracts have a grace period where you retain your seniority for a certain length of time.  If the store you're apply at is under a different contract, then you'll have to start over when it comes to pay and seniority.
