I have been with Kroger over 4 years, and even though I asked during my hiring interview about experience pay, I was refused it.,but now I know I shouldn't have been because I have tons of years of experience pay, and others who have come in after me were given experience pay. I want to ask for it because it is relevant to my job performance, and I have a good amount of it. Just tired of being screwed over. Any help? I am not a favorite, so I don';t know if my store manager would do it, but the people now who are making experience pay, meaning top rate, are horrible.
I'm an assistant department head and make less than $11/hr. But new hires can come in and make $11+ just off previous experience and only work 2 days a week. The reason apparently is because I am not qualified yet but it's still BS that I do the job of somebody making $20/hr and get paid less than a part timer fresh off the streets. The more I think about it the more I really get tempted to search for a new job and quit. Because managers think its funny how little I get paid and how much work I do. So that's why I never tell anyone to apply to Kroger, it is an awful company. I doubt they'd give you experience pay OP unless you force them by threatening to quit.

If you have at least 1year of beng an assistant department head, if I were you I would test the waters and see the likely hood of getting hired somewhere else and getting paid more. I would not tell anyone one what I'm doing Just research on the internet about positions and what they require because, it is not fun working that hard and being taken advantage of. It's why I stopped working hard for Kroger. It wasn't worth it to bust my behind and have mentally ill newcomers come in and get more hours, more pay and then theysometimes not even bother to show up for work.
