Its a Pain when we are on 2 week scheduling and we cant keep people that long anymore...  People quit left and right or wont show up. I wish Kroger would go back to 1 week it would make our lives much easier.

At this point I wouldn't think ANYTHING would help. Heck it seems like the new hires we think we are going to get, are dropping like flies before even being in the department a full week. So yea, definitely doubt that 1 week out of scheduling is going to curb that for us at my store.

I'm on 1-week scheduling and loathe it as an hourly employee. Because it's impossible to plan anything when you've got 2 days notice for the next week. At least with 2-weeks, you can get a head's up. And it's easier if we need to fill shifts. A lot of us complain in my store about the lack of head's up.

You would think it would be helpful..it's not. It's worse. Cause you think you'll have the next friday off and plan something, then they redo the next week schedule and post it..you actually work! Wow! What the hell is the point of having it then?

I love the one week scheduling more flexibility, but I'm also on a set schedule so...

What Kroger would really love is to have everyone on call, available at any moment, so that they could force you to work even on a whim. And then they would love for you to not be able to refuse no matter what. Broke your hip? Come on in. Got stabbed in the head? Get on a register.  House burned down? See you in 20 minutes.

It doesn't do any good if the boss doesn't know how to do a schedule

I would love to have 2 week schedule. I bet that would also put 2 weeks pay. Wal-Mart is a month schedule and 2 weeks pay.

We have 2 week schedule and 1 week pay.

I don't think that 2 week scheduling has anything to do with people quitting. Or that going back to one week schedule would make them quit less.

At least to a degree, I'm thankful they ask me if I'm able to cover for someone before they change my schedule(but I think it's mostly cause I don't have my own car and get ride from family and friends(and yes I'm in the process of getting my license, but sorry it's not as fast as most would expect me to get it)). But I know for some folks in my department, they will just put in on the schedule for them to work at other stores or what have you and not even tell them anything til they look at their schedule. Which is so wrong, as for sure you can't plan anything when they do sneaky things like that.

Or when they don't communicate to said boss that you are covering for someone else's shift(to which the deli back up manager had called me the week before about it). Which happened to me on Monday. As he was flipping out looking for me to be in at 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and acting like I was someone that ALWAYS calls off or whatever. Which I have never no showed and only time I called off and even had a doc's note for getting additional days off, was when I had severe food poisoning going on.

So for him to act that way is absolutely ridiculous to me and well everybody else in the department as well. As many folks were like dude, she never doesn't just show up. So has definitely more than anything showed me not to cover for folks again in a long while. If all this reaction is going off. I'll stick to my own hours thanks.
