Look in your contract under holidays. In the Louisville division, after a year's service, the following days are paid holidays whether you work them or not: NewYear's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. You do have to work the rest of your schedule for that week in order to get the holiday pay though. Full timers get 8 hours pay. Part timers get 4 or 6 hours depending on how many hours a week they average. People who have 30 or more years of continuous service get paid time and a half if they work on a holiday. That's in addition to the regular holiday pay.
It depends upon your contract.The new contract dictates that new hires do not get holiday pay for the first six(?) months.You get one dollar an hour extra.If you get the holiday pay it's 1.5 x regular pay for 4 hours.A full 8 hour sift at regular pay.If you work it you get the 2.5 pay for the hours you work.If you schedule your self 40 hours a week you will get the 2.5 pay.Due to the fact the extra pay is over time.
You are not required to work holidays in retail.You can fight against this.I know coworkers who worked with the company for 15+ years and never worked a holiday in their life.You have others that get oppressed and get told you have to work every holiday.I started fighting against this.I'll work all the minor ones to get t-day and x-mass off.

So true. I get paid 8 hours holiday pay but I can only be scheduled to work 32 hours during a holiday week. If I go over 32, it's overtime. That changed in September, 2012. People hired after that still get their holiday pay but it's simply counted as a bonus and not part of the 40 hour work week. They only get overtime if they work over 40 hours during a holiday week.
UFCW75 - All associates in the union receive "Legal Holiday", the amount of hours depends on your Status/Average Hours a Week. If your Status 1/3 you receive 8 hours, if your Status 4 you receive 2/4/6/8 i believe. If you work on the Holiday you also received 1.5 your pay as "Holidays Pay". If your Status 1, your "Legal Holiday" counts as hours towards your 40 hour workweek, while 3/4 does not.
