I'm having a difficult time describing exactly how I feel about Kroger, so I'm reaching out to anybody who can help me put it into words.  I feel like all everyone cares about are numbers and figures and that Kroger isn't at all genuine as it used to be.  I hate everything about the company, yet I can't explain why.

Burned out, bureaucrats and rat race are three words that come to mind.

We are in a constant rat race to get work done and help customers in the shortest time possible.

Our corporate managers keep re inventing the wheel with a new program every 5 hours that doesn't always work .  Bureaucrats make up laws and rules in order to make their jobs seem important and necessary.

We get burned out trying to keep up with all the numbers and programs and trying to get our jobs done correctly so the customers can have a pleasant experience.

I don't mind a little pressure.  But, some of these programs are ridiculous.

Not sure.

Kroger has a large market share for a grocery store.  They have been around a long time and employ a lot of people.  Big companies try to keep improving so they can keep up with the competition.

It ends up being a micro managed and cookie cutter type job.

I swear they come up with some of these programs to drive senior people out.

I enjoy my job and am paid well.  I come in, do my job and try to jump thru all the hoops created by corporate managers.

The most difficult part is managing some of these new hires they keep getting me.  I am amazed if they wipe their own butts without mommies help..

The only way to move up in the corporate ladder is to know someone higher up or kiss ass that's the motto of Kroger

Kroger is a top heavy corporation run by people who might not even do their own grocery shopping, and who certainly have never even worked in a grocery store.  In the race to the bottom, they continuously generate nonsense programs and metrics more in an attempt to justify their employment rather than to fulfill any useful purpose.

Rather than deal with any significant issue, it's easier to make up a new one ("If you can, scan"), or finding something to measure and requiring more work in less time with fewer people regardless of reality.  And without altering any of the other programs or metrics because that might require some thought.
