We got in a case of 1/2 sheet pre-decorated Graduation cakes today.  The box said use by September 23, 2017.

Double check date.  Make sure it doesn't say "Made sept 2017, use by sept 2018.  Scan out as shrink if out of date.

The department head should contact the department district coordinator.  The coordinator can contact the warehouse and they can check the dates on their stock.

Nope, it definitely said, "Use by."

Occasionally, we do get cases of either already expired product in produce, or something that we have to mark down the next day or two. Normal self life for these bagged salads is at least 7-10 days. I'm always told "oh that's just warehouse cleaning out their stuff". Which I would understand, but they should not send us trash for us to deal with and for us to take a loss.

I can't say that I'm surprised by this. We got in a open case of the Apple Cinnamon soft top cookies. I thought it was something seriously wrong about it. And of course told and let folks see what was going on. But I was initially told to just put them away anyway. Til I brought it up again with the back up manager and she said take off the top layer and they should be good after she looked them over. But I would have pitched the whole box out. As you never know what could have happened to them on the truck or even at the ware house.

And not sure if this is just the new standard of how they are sending out the Christmas Tree Brioche. But they aren't ever really boxed. Like in just a cardboard outline they sat them in. Which just so happens to be in the middle of everything else and surprisingly not crushed the hell out of. Some how or other.

So yea, would not be a surprise at all to me that they send out out dated items as well. I just wonder if there is a way that we could keep track of stuff like that and then report it to the coordinator people like the other poster said. And see if there are any changes made.

This is a ongoing problem  in our division. We are actually only receiving about 85% of the truck we order.  The rest is either outdated or we got charged and it never shows up. Not even joking when I say there is about 4 additional hours of work checking dates on boxes and filling out paperwork for claims, everyday..... EVERYDAY....
