Nonchalant Management

Ive been working at Kroger for almost two years but about 6 months ago I got a new co-manager and she doesnt care about anything. I told her today that a customer told me a woman walked out with a purse full of shrimp and she said oh well shes gone now. I was expecting her to say how does she look but no that was not her response, I had to ask her Well do you want to know how she looks? Then today, I had customer who was completely pissy drunk and I told her to notify authorities because he was going to drive but could barely walk and she said theres nothing we can do. I am soooo tired of her Not Caring!!!!

They only care about themselves.  I've done the same thing about several issues and have been blackballed for it.

In most cases in training we were basically told to never Approach shop lifters. I don't think that it's she doesn't care but we can't really do anything anyway. You can't really do much against the customer now A days

I've done retail salaried management, and until you've been in that role yourself you really don't know what all it entails (I didn't either til I found out the hard way).

The last poster describing the current hands-off policies was correct, and it can make you crazy because it's a double standard---don't get the company in trouble for apprehension, but the managers get in trouble over too high of shrink.

This issue is all part of why I changed careers altogether.
