Like does the csm even read the reasons for requesting availability changes? Because my reason this last time was for a parent teacher conference and the teacher only has set days and times!!  Teacher needed an answer right away so I gave it then went to put it into esched

But Thank God she canceled it yesterday and just sent the papers home with my kid because it ends up that my request was denied.

I know they don't have to approve them but it would save a last min scramble to call someone in if they would read that I needed to do this for my kid.

Next week I need to ask for sat off for my kid's  baptism... sooo yeah the church only has this set day. I wrote it in the memo so let's see what happens.

Im going to check this request like a hawk and hopefully catch the csm before it's too late that I really need this approval this time as this event is not reschedulable

Does your CSM write the schedule for your department as well? If so, to have a better shot at making sure your requests get approved. I'd suggest talking to them before that date comes up. Because I've found if you tell the scheduler about why you need the request for, ahead of time. If they are reasonable, they are more likely to give you that date off. But that has been my experience though and have a pretty reasonable deli back up manager that does our department's scheduling. I know most other places and managers aren't that reasonable at times.

I would leave a note at Guest Care for the CSM at least 3 weeks in advance of your requested day off in addition to requesting that day off in greatpeopleme.

Thanks. This csm is not usually very understanding so it's tough. It doesn't help that the signups were Tuesday the 15th and they tell us the baptism will be sat the 2nd. Barely enough time for me to get it into Eschedule and hopefully I can catch the csm b4 they look at the requests

If you get along with your coworkers, your best bet would be to swap a shift. That way no management is involved and they can't deny your request at the last moment.

Yes I do thankfully so I'll try that.  Plus alot of college kids are coming back for summer vacation so I'm hopeful, thanks

eschedule doesn't always show the schedule writer the reason you put in a request. it depends how you do it. i'm a lazy schedule writer, i approve and work around almost anyone's request but it helps to hear about something so it's on my mental radar rather than getting a call Friday morning at 11:45am asking to make changes for something that was known.

also it seems like some are taught to do availability requests instead of asking for days off. that can be confusing. sometimes they're mangled by eschedule and I have to call someone and ask WTF they meant to do

I wish they would teach everyone.........
If your changing your availability talk to your Department Head first (they will tell you the best options available for your new availability)
Requesting a Day Off, Requesting to be off before a specific time, Requesting to come in late is a TIME OFF REQUEST
Changing your Availability is a AVAILABILITY REQUEST
If submitting a AVAILABILITY REQUEST, make sure to MAKE IT LONG TERM or the specific time frame (default is 1 week)
