Does every one actually clock out for their 15 min breaks? I asked a lot of the overnight crew members and most of them dont. I havent clock out for one in 6 months. I guess they dont care. Some one should have said something by now

I'm not union and my state by law guarantees paid 15 minute breaks, so hell no I don't clock out. Unless I leave the property during my shift, I ain't clocking out for a break period. I'm trying to get home, not stay at work all day.

You do get paid for your 15 but you could potentially get in trouble if you don't clock out/in for break.  I think the purpose is to monitor the length of the break and to make sure you actually get one.

I didnt for about 5 years and 9 months. I started, though, because I like wasting company time so they can watch me as much as they like me wasting time so they can watch me. If they want me to write down that we blocked our aisles just so a manager can go behind me and say the same thing, they can watch me every day over the cameras take my sweet ass time at the time clock.

Fyi if you use the time clock to use the in/out break functions, you dont lose your pay. It just records on kronos that you took your break and stopped taking your break.

The only time I use the time clock is when I clock in/out for my shift. I haven't clocked in/out for break in... like five years or more. I did it when I first started because other people did it, but over time, I noticed fewer and fewer people taking/wasting the time to do it, so I stopped doing it. Been at multiple stores/worked under multiple store managers and no one has ever said anything to me about it.

I don't always clock out for a break but i do try to at least several times a week. Management doesn't really make a big deal about it unless someone is blatantly obvious in being gone for a half hour on their break.

I always clock out and back in, as I have the ironic luck to be that person that they WOULD catch one day and ask why I didn't clock out. Even though I know there are others in my department that haven't clocked out in years as well. And I have heard some scuttle butt every so often about management needing to crack down on those that don't clock out. But yea, as far as I know nothing ever really happens. I mean at times they more often than not will get on SOME peeps for doing too much calling off. BUT, never heard anything about them doing anything for peeps not clocking in and out.

Unfortunately, even to those that keep disappearing! It's like are you serious?! That one is what gets under my skin and on my last nerve.

We do not clock in/out for breaks and haven't ever had to that I know of. I'm happy we don't because our FES and CSM's are pretty lenient about breaks unless they notice people always taking obnoxiously long ones. A couple extra minutes though is fine. I have heard of other stores actually using a timer to time people's breaks.

The funny thing about company policy is how slippery it is.

Basically, the formula is:

Your liklihood of being consistently made aware of it is equally proportional to the company's odds of getting in trouble should you get hurt..... vs. their liklihood of firing you being equally proportional to their wanting you gone X their ability to prove you should have been aware of a policy you violated.

Not clocking out for a break can be a bad thing at times, technically they would get you for "stealing time" if your in the break room, outside or not doing your normal tasks. While they might write you up, if they are not enforcing it with ALL associates it would be thrown out.

I wish we had to clock our breaks.  We've been having issues with employees taking half hour breaks or just sitting back there until they get called up.  It's very frustrating.

Haha, look at your associate handbook. Your Store Mgmt team is just not enforcing this..... most likely because they do not want to touch Kronos.

We do not clock out for breaks. Not suppose to. Too bad, because I would love to know how much break time my coworker on "smoke" breaks actually takes, while we are busting our arses during rush hours. But it's also good, because those that care, do not have to take a break. Btw, we get paid breaks.
