not an undignified job, but low pay

been working as a pharmacy tech for four months. and it wasnt until a couple weeks ago that i thought i had a decent grasp of how to do my work. had a work meeting and impressed dept and district managers (or whomever) with knowing hotkeys; now im getting treated better and i feel like i can teach coworkers who have been there longer. will be expecting my first quarter raise after a level 2 training class. used holiday pay (i got 16 hours of paid holiday?) to open a checking and savings account. used the wealth i earned to support friends and family, this from someone who ignored generosity for years and was a sloppy drunk bum mooching off his hard-working mother. i have so many bad things to say about kroger but really there are plenty of good things to say, i could not probably not keep living a functioning adult life working there but for now being subsidized by mom who is no longer working and her 'boyfriend' right now i've got a kind of cushiony existence so i'm grateful for getting this work experience and plenty of hours

If you are happy and thankful for $10/hour, you're a dumbass. As long as Kroger has people happy with being paid ****, there are not going to be any raises. Why pay more when employees are thrilled with $10? FML. $10 is nothing, unless you are full time. And even if you're full time, $10 is extremely little.

Good job on turning your life around. You just keep doing what you're doing and forget about what most of these jokers said.

You are getting wage-cucked.  Minimum wage in my state is $10.50, and even ****ing Walmart starts at $11.00.

It's nice to make a dollar or two right now, but they are going to cut the hell out of your hours just as soon as they can.

You got to figure out a plan for promotion or a better job as fast as possible.  Get your ducks in a row right now because you are going to start getting 25 hour weeks before you know it.

For what ever reason, pharmacy tech has become one of the worst jobs to go for these days. They're being slashed everywhere. Most anywhere you go now what you'll see is one tech and one pharmacist, both freaked out and running like monkeys trying to keep up no

Yes, my checks are laughable, but I'm not happy with what I make. I don't have to work because my husband makes more than enough, I work to not sit at home all day. I don't have to work, I want to.

What makes me frustrated is that I do my best every single day, and no one gives **** about my effort. There should be merit raises. Last time we had union contract changed I fought and fought and got a small raise for pharmacy techs, better than nothing. Not enough to be happy with it though. I tell my managers all the time how the pay suck, I'm NOT grateful for $10. This is a slap in a face for those who really put effort in what they do. Now, why won't I quit and find something else. I have a small child and this job gives flexible hours, whenever I need a day or a week off, I get it no problem. So, I stay. But I'm not happy or grateful for what I make. It would be easier to stop trying and just be on a phone all day like others. I'm not expecting $15/hour, but $12 would be reasonable for what I do (extremely stressful and busy pharmacy).

Youre not worth 12 bucks an hour. You can be replaced no problem. Deal with it.

Because of losers like you Kroger doesn't give raises. You don't value yourself, your company doesn't value you. As long as everyone keeps quiet and works for nothing, we'll be getting paid nothing. I can't imagine the mindset of a person who is happy with $10/hour.

what are we supposed to do about the pay tho, if i let myself be angry or sad that will be my problem, whereas the pitiful pay is kroger's problem. low pay, low quality work. low quality work, low quality goods and services. perhaps when or if i get certified i'll find somewhere better. i wish my coworkers (some of them, especially the manager) would not treat me like crap, since i've been there going on 5 months, shown great promise, but have not been properly trained and am expected to know how to do everything

 Where are you located?

I know that my Techs start at $11 per hour... you can get certified nationally... they will reimburse your cost... and give you an additional 75 cents p/h

I make $14.25 an hour, and I don't even work in the pharmacy. I'm not a lead or manager of any sort. I did start out at $9 an hour 5 years ago. I have to say I'm thankful for the pay increases our union has gotten us.
