Anyone else having their store remodeled? We no longer have a hot bar, salad bar or soup bar.

Customer complaints are high on this change.

Customers are going to complain because this gives them something to complain about. They will be alright.

everything is packaged now in the deli, aisles are more narrow and taller they use the high shelves to store backstock,

Are you a Marketplace store? I only knew a few stores to have a hot bar..... Salad Bars were being reassigned to the Deli, but I'm sure some locations they might be eliminating....(high shrink). Prepackaged = Less Labor...

Hey, that explains why my store got rid of the bulk foods section and replaced it all with an aisle of the same stuff but prepackaged in these little containers. Even got rid of the little machine that let you grind your own peanut butter.

My home store got rid of the bulk food too, which is funny because they just put it in a few months ago. Now all that stuff got integrated into the aisles. I saw a whole section of candy dedicated to that organic candy.

Salad bar went to deli, and that's caused more problems than anything. Puts more work on the deli manager, and yet the produce manager still gets paid more, for doing less work. Makes no sense to me. Believe me, the deli manager in my store wanted nothing to do with it but the salad bar people blamed her and made it sound like it was her fault they had to train in the deli...

Remodels suck.  If you work evenings, you might need to buy earplugs and maybe a dust mask.

I was so happy when we got rid of our bulk section.  We had problems with insect infestations, we couldn't get bags or ties for it, customers stole every single pen over there, we didn't have enough lists to go around, customers couldn't figure it out, everything in it was stale...

We gave/threw away many times as much bulk food as we sold.

We had a new salad bar installed only to find out it was the wrong one. Why install if it was known we would no longer have a salad bar.
As much as customers are complaining, we should have gotten the krobar. The reason we didn't get it was customers complained, even the pastor down the road. Then we are told because it would cause shrink throwing away half full wine bottles. I'd like to think it's the latter. Why a few peoples complaints would change plans for our remodel is ridiculous imo.
