My store just recently started selling the hot french bread in the evenings at 4,5 and 6. Starting today the deli has to send someone to the bakery at 5 and 6 for 10 minutes to bag the bread. Not that we don't have enough to do in our own department. Anyway we sell at most since the program started a couple...

I went to work in the deli yesterday morning for our 7 a.m. opening shift. Usually the next person doesn't come in until 8:30 or 9. Well yesterday the Deli manager scheduled two of us at 7 and seemed shocked I was and there and asked why I was there. For the rest of the day she rode my ass every chance she go...

So.... during a remodel, do the stores ever have to shut down or do they always get done while it's still open? Because I found out tonight that the whole back wall where our sink is and things like that is becoming a produce cooler once our remodel starts. The whole back wall where our donut case is is goi...

Can Kroger make me stay past my scheduled time even if I am late? Like say I over slept and was scheduled 8 hrs. From 6am -2:30 with lunch. But I didnt get there till say 7. Could they make me stay till 3:30 to make that hour up legally even if I already have other plans outside of work?

Two key things I got out of the literature (this is for Michigan UFCW 876): 1. Part time employees will only be able to work up to 28 hours. 2. Utility clerks will finally be given their own classification separate from courtesy clerk. I've talked around to other employees, and many say they are going to...

A Cincinnati Kroger store had to shut operations yesterday afternoon for a couple hours b/c of sewage coming up from various points throughout the store. It was, needless to say, a crappy situation! There were probably close to 6 to 8 different spots where this sewage was oozing up out of. A plumbe...

In our area, the Drug/GM girls, and the department head, are on a lower wage scale than clerks and cashiers (but above courtesy clerks and fuel). Is that how it is in every contract?
