Been thru one of these days yesterday. Seems that they have one of these at least once a year or sometimes twice. Day where the store director sets down all day to make himself/herself available any and all day for employees to come in and talk about any concerns, complaints gripes or issues dealing with ones job, store and or the company. Been 20 years and never seen them accomplish anything worth while. Just another day for management to have a feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel goooooooood day about being concerned about there employees and their issues, Just have to wonder why one has to waist the time of a day like this when there is to always be an open door policy to talk to management anytime.
our manager sat there, read a newspaper, and asked questions that made him look like a real idiot. he asked about what stuff is that he's supposed to go to meetings for every month.
Got to wonder if a day of listening would be any better if it was a few hours set aside to a district manager to be the one for employees to talk to one on one or as a group, with no store director or co`s around.
I'm #teamKroger all the way, but for the record the Cultural Council started "Day of Listening" not Kroger. Second, if you are open with your goals and stuff upfront there isn't a need to attended.
I complained about maintenance issues that affected customers daily, it was fixed. And my words every time, "I'm willing to work my ass for you to get you where you need to go as long as you don't forget me."
We can bitch and moan all we want but we can only control ourselves. Your store manager can only control themselves.
Once was a baseball player named Mickey Rivers. Was traded from the Yankees to the rangers sometime in the mid or late seventies. He made a statement about the trade when a reporter asked him about it. I always looked to it a sound advice for living.
((((He said that he does not worry about things he has no control over because he has no control in the situation.
He then followed it up by saying he does not worry about things he has control over because he does have that control over the situation. ))))
Always seemed to be sound advice and sometimes helped me to learn to just shut up sometimes and go with the flow.
And as far as I am concerned I never really did need a day of listening. Found that most of the store managers I have had will always find the time to set down and talk to you if you have a concern , a problem or just want to know something.
