i work at kroger but yesterday i didn't in to work and didn't call. The reason is i misread my schedule and didn't know i had work. I know, stupid. Anyways i went to work today but nobody mentioned it to me and i didn't mention it. I'm almost certain i'll be fired because i haven't been working there for long. However, one manager said it's not automatic and that employee performance could help. If that's the case could i have a chance to keep my job? Today a customer actually told my manager i'm really good and deserve a promotion and i caught someone stealing from the store. They said that goes into my record so do i have some hope os will i definately be fired soon?
you should be fine. if they were going to fire you, they probibly would have done it the next day. just hunker down, and impress this week, and you will likely be fine
Maybe they didn't notice? Anyways they should really post these schedules online. As long as you use your number to get in. They can have it filtered. It's a pain to always go to the managers office to check the schedule.
Schedules are posted on Fridays by 12 lunch.Its your responsibilty to write it down. I made copies late nights. They wont post it anywhere else because they don't want too many copies out there in the case they want to change it. Ours was posted in 3 locations in the store but I have seen them pull all 3 copies down and put up a altered schedule on Sat or Sunday. Only thing was I kept a copy of the original posted and could see the changes. Its a old mafia trick. Cover your ass get a copy of the one posted Fridays.
If they don't say anything within 24 hours or a day about you missing, then its dead in the water. It has to be handled your next shift if anything will be done.
OP, you can only be fired if you NCNS two scheduled days in a row, or it's a consistant pattern of behavior that's been documented by and reported to the union by management.
It is rather weird they didn't even mention it to you. They either forgot about it, or they didn't even notice in the first place.
at my store it's not posted til around 430 or 5 pm on friday evenings if at all. sometimes they wait til saturday to post it. i've talked with the union rep about this and he says it's wrong but what can he do about it? not a damn thing
