Schedules!

At the store I'm at now ( in the deli department), I was told that we were to go by the schedule in the deparment not the one near the office.  Which is true?  The one in the deli is handwritten and gets changed alot with out us being informed all the time.  I was 1 1/2 hours late by the deli schedule one day but the computer printed one upstairs had me on time.

Why don't you ask your supervisor? Seriously. They can't change your schedule at will, once it's posted it's posted. The can't change it. They can ASK you if you can switch around shifts etc, but those hours are yours.

The schedule to follow is the one posted by X time on Y day.

In this case, the person running the deli currently should be a "backup".

Dont know if this is the case in other zones, but in ours there is a department head and a "backup" or "assistant" deli manager.  It is a bid position.

If the schedule is being changed against your will, you need to alert management or even a shop steward.  Once the schedule is posted, nothing else can be changed unless YOU agree to it. (coming in on your day off or working over).

Any changes to your schedule should be approved by you after its been posted for the coming week. If they change something and fail to tell you and then try to disicpline you, call your union rep or human resources and complain.

The only schedule to go by is the one that is printed off,  That is the one in the system that is the one that will say that you are late or not.   At the store I worked at we where once told to only by the one in the department.  Until management inform us that we are to go by the one upstairs only.  Our department or back up will bring the new schedule down on Thursdays and post it.  As management inform us there are changes that take place up until Saturday by noon.   The only correct schedule in the store is the one hanging upstairs by noon on Saturday.

Ours get posted on friday by noon. And any changes are done by saturday by noon. They do think they can change hours at any given time. (mostly to the younger people up front) Just know your contract and make sure you talk to your shop steward.

That's why we have a union. Without it, we'd be walmart.

In our store, I have the EXACT same issue! Our department manager keeps our schedule in our area and changes it OFTEN. Once I went by that one and one of the store managers and the payroll clerk both yelled at me because I did not follow the schedule in the break room which is the computer print out Bottom line, I worked more than I was scheduled. It has been stated to us NEVER to use that department schedule by store management, only the ones posted in our break room. However, our entire department continues to go by the schedule in our department which does differ than the one posted in back. (except for me) A one time yelling is all I can take.
