I cover a labor relations news beat for the Bloomberg BNA publications Daily Labor Report and Labor Relations Week and am seeking a copy of the proposed agreement between Kroger and UFCW Local 1996 that union members rejected March 20-21, 2014. I want to compare the proposed contract with previous contracts ratified in the past 10 years.

That would likely be hard to acquire. They tend to not pass out papers on it and read it aloud.

On a more serious note:

 

While I appreciate and am intrigued by what Bloomberg BNA publishes, I'm afraid that we won't be of much help here. The union is pretty secretive about negotiating (and negotiated) contracts, especially ones that have failed and fallen face first in front of the union executives.

Even a minimum wage worker who works in the same store can't get a copy of the contract if he's not a member of the union, or at the very least be given a tough time for it.

 

You would be MUCH, MUCH better off asking an employee up front.
