I'm currently the front end supervisor. Our store doesn't have a full time supervisor. Just me and this other guy that work 25-30 hrs a week. I've been at this store for a little over a year, and I've been a supervisor for about 9 months.
I was hired as a clerk/cashier, but you know I trained to be a bagger as well and I did both for the first few months before they cross trained me to run the fuel center, customer service desk, sco, and all that jazz on the front end...
I just want to be a bagger. The stress of being a supervisor is getting to me. I wouldn't mind it if I was getting paid more... but for $20 extra a week.. I can live without all the stress and bs the supervisor position comes with.
I've asked two of our co managers if I could just be a bagger and they said "no" but I think they thought I was joking...
I'm serious. I hate being a supervisor.
I don't even want to check anymore.
So how do I get my classification changed to Courtesy Clerk?
Thanks.

You asked the wrong person. You need to talk to your dept head about it because that is a scheduling issue, not a classification issue. If they decide to help you, they will, otherwise you're stuck.

I think it is a classification issue since I just want to be a bagger. Courtesy clerks are only baggers they can't check. Clerks can check or bag, and I'm currently listed as a clerk...
But yeah I may ask my Customer service manager if I can just be a bagger. But I don't won't to make her mad.
you can ask not to be a supervisor any more. they can't force it on you. talk to your dept head and just put it in writing. we've had people do that at our store. it's not a big deal.
it is stressful and not at all worth it to get the same pay as a cashier and have to herd a couple dozen employees per shift. you deal with way too much BS. your shot at success is predetermined by the schedule. if you've got the wrong mix of people, not enough people, too many lates & call outs ... you're screwed. but they still demand you make green half hours even if you're down one, two, three people even as scheduled because they're saving hours.
