It was mentioned that I would be working in the Dairy department during the daytime. I figure the Dairy lead will be the AM person most of the time and I would be the afternoon Dairy clerk which is ok with me.
Does that really mean I will be working in the Dairy department actually stocking or
Does that mean they will train me to run a register, collect carts, bag or help in the frozen department?
Depends on how well your store does with needing relief help. Also, if you were already in a dept that gets called up front for those things, if it hasn't been an issue yet, you should be fine.

I have worked dry grocery on nights for years. I have helped in Dairy, Bread, Produce, carts and Frozen on emergency occasions. I was trained on a register 6 years ago for about 2 hours. But don't think I'll mention that during interview. :) This is for a different high volume super store. First, I have to get in the door to find out how they roll.
I am not a day person but really want a change of scenery. I like fast paced high volume work.

I like fast paced high volume too. Working night grocery/frozen or daytime GM usually has a lot of freight. Dairy is pretty much about keeping those eggs and milk stocked and fitting everything else in somehow.

Yeah, I've seen how that happens about the eggs. One day, everyone was calling in because of too much snowfall and no clear roads. I helped a kid run the bread and then worked in Dairy filling eggs and misc after I had already worked my 8 hour grocery shift. Everytime I walked past the eggs (@10 for $10) they were empty and our cooler only holds 2 cases at a time!
