Holiday Pay/Checks early
Permalink

Hi all. I'm new to this site but I actually come here frequently to look up answers to my stupid questions.

Anyways. I work in the Fuel Center and I actually quite like it (Unless I have a drive off or I'm asked to come in early). But I was scheduled to work New Year's Day and I'm not sure if I would get holiday pay since it's a federal holiday.

Also.. I go into our store to pick up my paper check every Thursday. But since that falls on the first, will I get paid before or after New Year's? Thanks for all the replies.

It honestly depends on where you are. The store I used to work in had direct deposits a day early on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve/Day. However, the paychecks are going to be a day late.

As for if New Year's Day is a holiday or not, I'd say it's not, but again, depends on what has been written out in the negotiated contract. I recall not being paid Memorial Day or Veterans day despite being federal holidays.

Besides, as far as I know companies don't have to observe federal holidays.

It really depends on where you are. Here in the Columbus division we do get holiday pay for New Years day. And paper checks always run a day behind if the holiday falls on a Thursday.

Not sure about your contract but our paid holidays here are New Years, Memorial day, fourth of July, Labor day, Thanksgiving day and Christmas day.
