So I work at one of the convenience stores on the west coast and was told today that I was suspended for a week. It is the first time I've been suspended in my life. The reasoning was because over the past two weeks I was between 2-8 minutes late to work and I was late leaving two days by like a half hour. Majority of those late punches was due to my boss being on the computer we use to punch and I had to wait for whatever she was doing to finish. The two late outs was due to graveyard getting there late. I was told that our new assistant manager had talked to me about it (which was news to me) already. I've been at this store for 3 and a half years and only one other person has been here longer (by a few months). A month or so ago, they attempted to get rid of him using his disability as an excuse but messed up in the way they went about it. I never got talked to before this. If I've ever gotten written up for tardiness, it was back when I first started and it was once so I don't believe I even got a write up for it. Is this extreme and do you think they are trying to get rid of me?
