Part Time Holiday Pay

During orientation I remember my rep saying we get 4 extra hours holiday pay as part time, and that we also get an extra $.50 per hour. So if I work 4 hours on a holiday, that tells me I should get 4 hours paid at $7.55 and (the extra) 4 hours at $8.05. When I looked at my pay stub, I saw that I had been paid an extra 4 hours AT $.50 an hour. So for my holiday pay, I got $2?? Is this how it's supposed to be, or did I get screwed over?

It's an either or, not an 'and'.

For example, if you work on the holiday, you get the 0.50 an hour bonus to your regular hourly wage. However, if you do not work on the holiday, you will get 4 hours at your regular pay rate. You may not see the big benefit, and quite frankly at 0.50 an hour there isn't. But the benefit comes in when you are full time and are scheduled off of the holiday, which would mean you'd get your regular 40 hours and an additional 8 hours of holiday pay.

 How long have you been with the company and what does your union contract say?  I didn't get the extra $.50 until year 2 I think, and the holiday pay is averaged on how many hours you work each week.  Did you see anything listed as holiday pay on your checkstub?

 

If you work the actual holiday 4 hours at $7.55 plus the $.50 premium you should have 4 hours at $8.05.  The extra 4 hours would be at your regular rate of pay, $7.55.  You only get the $.50 extra for actual hours worked on the holiday.  This is my contract though.
