Speaking of Incompetent, Irrational Floor Supervisors.....

I have a supervisor who has extreme anger issues and no people skills whatsoever. She's absurdly incompetent- she had to be taught the difference between 1% and .1% (too stupid to try to explain- but you get the idea). One day she was bagging groceries for me and had a screaming mad fit at me for going too fast (plus I sent a big case of heavy bottled water down the conveyor belt- that's what sent her off the deep end). Instead of turning the belt off from her end, she made the most embarrassing scene in front of a nice couple, the ones whose groceries I was ringing up. She yelled that she was never bagging for me again- I laughed at her and said, "Are you serious??" She yelled, "YES, I'm serious!!!!" It slayed me- she stomped off and I got the shakes from hell. Then I apologized to the couple for their having witnessed that little scenario.

How do these people get hired, and how do they keep their jobs?

If "my" cashier is going too fast, or I need a moment, I will stop the conveyer belt myself by pressing the pretty green button.
BUT I also try to have respect for "my" cashier by pushing it again and re-starting the conveyer belt as quickly as I can.
Sometimes he or she restarts it and I immediately stop it again. A sort of "not quite yet" without words.

since i use to be a bagger i move stuff out of the way. like the waters ill put to the side or anything heavy or anything that could get smashed.

idk it just helps the bagger and the customer so nothing gets smashed.

THIS.  Sometimes it can be overwhelming while bagging.  I've had people who don't like to bag for me because I can overwhelm them but I am often at the other end so I get it.  Just use the button, put large stuff to one side and crushables to the other.  You can keep ring/tender and still not be an ass to your bagger also when you finish ringing, please do help bag on a big order while the customer fidgets for payment.

As for that supervisor, she probably shouldn't be a supervisor because she can't handle the stress while making the same pay as you.  We all have bad days but that was kinda ridiculous.
