I work in the deli department but I want to work as a night stocker now. It hasn't really been a month yet since I've been in the deli department. It's fine but I don't really care for dealing with customers anymore even though it's not as much customers I would have working in fast food. Anyway, is there a certain amount of time I have to wait to apply for another position? & would that be a bad look? hmm

Speak directly to your store manager.  Ask if you can be put on the night stock crew.  Before you ask, be absolutely certain that is what you want to do.

I have worked night stock for over 7 years.  We always need more bodies because the one's we hire never seem to last very long.  Once you switch, it will be very difficult to get back on days.  We get a lot of work done on nights.  We don't have time to chit chat with other employees or send text messages.  Day shift seems much more relaxed and idle.  Night crew is constant go for the entire 7.5 hours.

I wouldn't work any overnight shift unless I absolutely had to.  I've done it and I was tired all the time.  You might want to try produce department.  If your store gets its dairy and frozen deliveries during the daytime, you inquire in either one of those departments.  You'll still have to help customers, but it won't be as bad waiting on a counter or standing in a checklane all day.

If one can handle working in the cold, frozen doesn't seem so bad. I mean if you have to unload the frozen truck, that sucks. Always half-assed stacked because in the distribution center all the new employees start in frozen (look it up, it makes sense). Frozen also means you have an excuse to wear a jacket, wich reduces (only slightly) the chance a customer will come up to you with a question.
