applying to a new job

So I got terminated from Kroger for consuming without purchasing and I admitted to the HR and what not but my question is should I put Kroger down for employment history on a job application? I've been with Kroger for 6 months and it was my first job, I'm 18 by the way. I was planning on applying to another grocery store ALDI because I really need a job but I don't want to put down my previous job I got fired from and risk getting a job. If I do put it down, what will they ask my manager at Kroger? Please help me and thank you

if they do call kroger for a reference i think legally they can only tell them that you did work there for a period of time and that's about it.

but i've never been fired for stealing.. probably would have been easier for you if you just paid for your food..

Just think about this... if you don't put it on their they'll wonder why because six months employment will pop up on your background check.  just be honest.  they might ask Kroger why you are gone, tell them what Kroger can tell them: you were terminated for cause & explain it.

I hate that they fire people over this. It's nonsense. I'm in line. I'm thirsty. I have the water. I have the money out. LET ME DRINK IT ALREADY!

I know how ya feel. It seems like 1 + 1 doesn't apply to employee customers.

This is what I've heard my store manager say, so I'm inclined to believe that this is the case.

Yes, technically, but let's all not be naiive enough to think these people actually always follow that rule.

hr major here.

it's actually not illegal specifically for them to say negative things about you, however because of the possibility of lawsuits etc over slander and things of that nature, a call to a previous employer generally just involves what your position was and how long you worked there.

to the OP...

here is what I would do for your situation if I was in your shoes. I would put Kroger down as my current employment. I would 'mark' the application for not to call. Adjust your dates to six months back to current. During your interview, tell them that you are still employed & you are contemplating on leaving for better job prospects.

Good Luck! Aldi is hard to land a job b/c they do not hire many employees.

My store, if there's not a receipt attached to it, you're fudged.
