Kroger Logic

Some of the logic that this company is ran on makes me want to rip out my hair. My store is the worst in our district for overtime, but also has the most amount of relief cashier hours (57ish, more than a store twice our size with only 12 hours). For some reason no one can see the logic in that. Now overtime is forbidden and stuff isn't getting done. On top of that, all of our hours got cut because we "haven't met our forecasted sales amount" and in my department we have dropped from 10 to 4 people with not enough new help any time soon. At this point I'm glad I'm starting school and can't work as muchsmile.

On a side note, can managers control/give-out raises. One of mine has been saying that she wishes she could give me one but she has no control over it. Is this true?

Regarding the latter paragraph, it is true. Merit raises violate the contract unfortunately. Thank your local steward for screwing you over.

You've noticed Krogrr "logic"; you want to experience Krogrr ethics, i.e., give the corporation free rein to do whatever amuses it?  With the power to reward arbitrarily would come the power to punish arbitrarily.

The manager can put in a request for a higher pay rate, but HR will normally decline it.
