They had a sign hanging by our time clocks once saying that if we didn't have a name tag not to clock in because we would be out of uniform. I wrote on it early one morning saying fine, I can just go home and then you won't have any help. They took it down and haven't put one up since.
I was. She was talking about about why we have more than one, and if we don't wear it or are "out of uniform" she doesn't have to pay us. She's a gem.
Oh, ok. That makes sense. You didn't do a dang thing wrong but you got to hear the threats of what will happen should you not wear one. So the minute they tell you break, take it off. Let her see you walking in the store without it (on break) and see if you can get her to threaten you again LOL! If it was me I would find ways to just mess with her.

We had a sign like that too. I remember once I did forget my nametag. I was at my register and the DM came through my line to buy a drink. She said "well, I would say hello but I don't know what your name is" real snotty. I looked at her and said "that's $1.83, would you like to pay by cash or use a card?" Totally ignored her, you don't wanna talk, I don't either. She hollered over to the floor supervisor and said "Joanna, would you get this girl a nametag?" and left. Maybe I'm why they put the sign up. Who knows.
you get more than one name tag? dang i have one. i lost it over a year ago asked for a new one for a while no one gave me one then just when without.
We usually have a few extras at customer service in a drawer we use if we forget ours. Problems is they all have someones name on them. So customers will say Cindy, where's this? Cindy, what time do you close? My name isn't Cindy so I end up ignoring them LOL! Sometimes I remember to answer to the name on the tag, but not often.
I've seen people wearing name tags of random names before too.
Especially fun when you can wear tags from folks of different ethnicities and/or genders. Folks, meet your dairy clerk, black "Jesus".
I see this sort of thing as a form of desperation amusement along the lines of making "friends" with the ****roach in your dank cell, the bleak dungeon of a workplace known as "Krogrr".
