Senior Day piped in music
Permalink

Hey dingbat KROGER bigwig(s), scoot back from your posh office chair, put down your cup of Starbucks coffee and plz consider this............... how about changing out that tiresome repetitive annoying brain-dead "Closeout Special/  Bargain Basement CD collection" and play a DIFFERENT selection of Oldies for Senior Citizen Day (Thursday at our store......or at all stores???)     I've heard all 30 or so songs so many times I am about to commit Hari Kari on the job. You have made about a billion dollars last year in net profit but can't spend more than (what seems like)  $12.95 for a tiny selection of songs to torture the public with over the piped in sound system?

With tens of thousands of songs available, how come you stupid nitwits keep playing the same wore-out songs over and over , like you think all senior citizens love that screechy shrieking off-key "Sherry baby" drivel (Four Seasons??) ....one of the worst sounding songs known to man............and other fingernails on the blackboard stuff that I can't use proper words for in this forum.  So I understand that some ditzy girl is gonna have a party and "she'll cry if she wants to" ....got it!!!.......we all got it. Now lets move on. Thank you!

Don't worry, most seniors can barely hear the employees, let alone the music.

Your manager controls the music station from their office. If you talk to them they might be willing to change the station for the day!

Not on senior day, at least in my division. The oldies are sent down automatically by the higher ups.

Bagboy, your answer doesn't address the real issue here: The tiny selection of Oldies for Senior Citizen's day needs to be completely replaced and expanded (by the brass at the top who actually make the decision on what songs are played for SC day) with an entirely different selection of oldies. I'm not against oldies per se, but sick of the repetitiveness and tiny selection!!!   This has nothing to do with the store manager.........it is piped in and they are evidently expected to play the  'standard oldies audio feed" on Senior Citizens day.

But, maybe I'm the only employee in the whole store that seems to be irritated by this situation. ????

Going 4011 , maybe you work at a store where the music is turned down and is not intrusive. At my store, the audio level is often turned way up, and customers of all ages have complained they have trouble hearing the employees BECAUSE of the music being too loud. Especially in the bakery/deli/meat dept areas.

You're right about that, the only time the volume is turned way high is for football games :P
