So I'm a new overnight stocker and was just wondering if anyone else does overnight stocking and if they enjoy it.

I've worked overnight before for my department. It's nice, if you don't mind being up late. No customers to bother you, and you can get away wearing headphones.

I have done it for almost 1.5 years now. My store is not a 24 hour store, so we only see customers for 3 hours during our shift - and even then it is only a handful and tend to be the same few people. But do I enjoy it? NO! We can't ever keep people and the people we do have have gotten lazier, or so it seems to me, since I've been there. Meanwhile I have picked up more and more responsibility. Not that I really asked for it, it just kind of happened. But we are short staffed and we hardly ever get trucks done on the night we are suppose to anymore, back stock and receiving have become total disasters, and while we are expected to clean up whatever mess and trash the people during the day left, no one helps us out. But maybe that is just my store. And no, management isn't helping the situation.

You are not alone.

I am a night Grocery manager.  Sometimes my crew does good other times I am left wondering WTF they have been doing all night.

I come in to a complete backroom mess almost every night.  Bottle bins, pallet stacks and bales rolled into the back dock with pallet jacks under them and I can't move them because they were rolled into a narrow space.  They are supposed to be in the salvage trailer.  Since day one, we have always cleaned up after day crew.

We had an extra order the week before Thanksgiving.  I was off and no one edited the order.  Instead of running all our backstock that night, we got a 1700 case truck! :(  An extra 1700 cases that week and no backstock got ran.  We had grocery backstock from one end of the backroom to the other.  Normally, I open orders at 1000, trim it down to 950, then order it back up to 1150.

Other than that, I like it.

I work overnights and it good work when the mangers do there jobs and don't bull**** around. I have 3 manger whom run the store, but each one doesn't really do anything. I like working overnights it good and there are few in the store. I do wish i could get more hours.. but I did get raise really fast, because i was working to many hours last month.

Really it not that hard just give everyone around 30 hours and the store wouldn't have all the problems.

Now I'm only get 20 hours when i was getting over 40... That what happens manger f...k it  up.

overnight stocking is great if u you are just a regular stocker. If u are fast enough finishing two lanes, keeping your backstock low and scanned as well as the ad items filled b4 the grocery mgr has to you then you'll be fine.  The mgr pretty much leaves me alone and lets me smoke cigarettes whenever i need to and gives me my days off wheneveri ineed it since i'm always the first one done and willing to stay to help out anybody who is behind. So, finish your two lanes, try to run and scan all your residual backstock, and don't be 8 and skate and the mgr will love you
