A manager has decided that cashiers with high CCG's need to be placed on express lanes.
Working an express lane makes me want to kill myself a little more than usual.
So what are good ways to artificially drop my score? It feels so difficult to slow down. Ideally, I'd like to scan at my regular speed but get a terrible score.
I tried ringing up shopper's cards and fuel program slips and letting it sit when I'm not helping a customer, but that doesn't work.
Getting the shopper's card last is a start.
I have been leaving the drawer open (but almost closed while standing in front of it) between transactions. It helps, but isn't practical on express lanes since the drawer is on the wrong side.
Never heard CCG before, is that another name for ring tender?
If so, the biggest thing is to use the hand scanner. That gives you .4 seconds, and I think scanning normally gives you 3.4. If you want to have fun, every once in a while, tell customers that you rebooted your scanner because it was having issues, so you will use the hand scanner until it starts working again.
It turns out that I actually prefer to scan quickly in order to make the customers go away faster.
I've noticed that .01 pounds of bananas costs $0.00. I wonder if letting that sit between orders would do it, or if $0 transactions don't count, or are otherwise red flagged.
Securing the register during a transaction is supposed to torpedo CCG's, but the number of secures during an order is listed on the score sheet.
Another manager told me that the first manager was incorrect, and that fast cashiers aren't supposed to be on express. Hmm.
It turns out that ringing up .01 pounds of bananas does count for CCG's. A sympathetic manager said that it might show up on ACE reports, though.
The hard part is that it tends to average out quickly. I think if I had a closing shift and a chance to clean registers, I could just let it sit for ages.
