A few months ago, you may recall, me mentioning that my cousin was getting married on Easter and how they wouldn't let me off even though I requested it months in advance. Well, the wedding went great and I even went to the doctors for a checkup. (Made the appointment ahead of time) during the wedding, my pocket kept buzzing, and buzzing, and buzzing. When I checked my phone during the reception it shown me I had 50 missed calls all from Kroger. I came in Tuesday with my "sick" note in hand and they wouldn't accept it... Even it showing I had a doctors exam at the office. Don't they HAVE to accept the doctors note? My cousin thinks another guest may have posted pics on facebook. But I Havent seen anything.
I have also refused to sign any write ups that were presented to me. Should I get the union involved in this matter?
Did you even call in sick when you were supposed to be there?
The doctors note doesn't automatically excuse you from missing a shift. Basically you have a no call no show with a doctors note?
Did they offer you a write-up? You said you refused so the next step is to put the unsigned write-up in your file or terminate you. At that point get the union involved. Don't be surprised if your hours get mysteriously lowed if you are pt for the next few schedules.
That would look bad if there are pics on facebook.
The main issue is you requested it off. They knew you wanted off for a weeding. You knew they denied it. So, it looks fishy that you got sick at that time.
They should of honored his request. It's not like he's wanting it off its for his wedding! Easter isn't a major holiday like memorial day or 4th of july.

We don't even get holiday pay for it..so don't let them screw you and call it a holiday.
So he went to his cousins wedding. So what? Most families are at home celebrating not shopping. Good for him that he went to the wedding. Weddings are more important than needs of the business anytime of the day, month, or year. My job, the manager expects to see pictures of the wedding you are asked to be in. That's the only requirement.

Go pound your gerbil pud in the burger grinder, fuuck head.
WOW you are lucky you don't work for me, I'd have your worthless no-account ass out SO fast that 'doctor's note' would flip, flutter and fly from your still stunned fingers.
*Oh no! A rare opportunity to be in a wedding! Ahhhh!! How am I actually going to cover his shift and do things MYSELF?!! And now the union is involved??? Noooooooo!!!!
If it was me I would spend a few days writing a letter to send to corporate, DM, everyone I thought needed to hear about it. Something about Kroger values - honesty, integrity, etc. Then I'd talk about marriage, one of the most blessed unions between a couple. You get the idea. By the end of the letter they would have a tear in their eye and be so angry at your stinking store manager.
Yeah... like the second poster said, the bigger problem here is that it was a no call, no show.
It's over and done with now. If you're still employed, just give it some time and let it be forgotten about. If they keep pressing the issue, and call you back into the office for disciplinary talk, just make sure your union steward is on hand, then go from there.
