Promoted from bagger to Drug/GM
Permalink

At my store, there's a bagger who was just promoted to Drug/GM. The only thing is that she's 15. She can't work more than three/four hours a day due to state law. She'll also be getting a raise. Another bagger and I were talking about this and we don't think that they're allowed to do that. Are they allowed to put her in Drug/GM that young or are they breaking some type of law?

Drug/GM isn't like deli/bakery or meat/seafood where you have to be 18 to use everything in the department so they might be ok on that but that does seem weird to promote a 15 year old to an outside department.

Seems way too suspic to me. Up in my state, you have to be 16 in order to work legally anywhere except on a farm or family run and owned biz. With the way Kroger is, seems suspect to me. Plus it's not like she's going to be much help.Like you said, 3/4 hrs a day due to law. Can't really see it going over well with Management either due to child labor laws n wat not.

I highly doubt they are being moved to the department. You must be 18 to use baler, jacks, ect. Also a raise is probably not part of the deal considering it is more of a lateral move. Conditioning is probably all they are doing which is definately alot bigger pain then bagging
