Lazy File Maintenance Clerks

I shouldn't let this bother me, but it sure as hell does.

At my store, it seems to me, that the people that do file maintenance (tag hanging, signs, pricing, and whatnot) are among the laziest of the lazy, and neither management nor the front end CSM or ACSM say anything about it. Almost always, there is a least two people doing file starting at around six or seven in the morning and throughout the day, I see them more often than not, walking the store together with their carts, at a very casual and relaxed pace, talking while sipping Startbucks coffee, and occasionally scanning tags with an RF handheld or hanging signs. Other times, I see them upstairs at their desks, again working at a very relaxed pace, doing some work on the computer while other times chatting/looking at their phones. The rest of the time, it's bathroom breaks/smoke breaks outside.

Meanwhile, they won't come up front to surge check or help bag unless management specifically calls them two or three times. They never seem to get asked to help condition the store in the morning when night crew leaves and the store is a freaking mess - prompting management to pull me and others from other departments to help condition much of the damn store while we our forced to abandoned much needed work in our departments. All this, and we still almost always have some expired tags on shelves, occasional displays without signs and items that sometimes ring up wrong on the register. These file maintenance people hardly EVER get called for anything/do work that isn't considered theirs, and they STILL aren't 100%.

It just pisses me off that they hardly ever have to seem to chip in while myself and others have so much work and get called to front regularly and have to do extra crap like condition the store (which night crew should be responsible for - it's THEIR job! Hold them accountable, PLEASE!).

It's just so messed up and frustrating! I don't understand why these people on file maintenance aren't held to the same standard and pushed to help out in other areas like me and a handful of others are.

I agree to an extent. If we have to run around like we're in a marathon then they should too. But conditioning the store after Night Crew leaves for the day, isn't their job. At least that the way it is at my store, they don't even have to check. But they do have to make signs, hang tags, make sure dept get the correct tags, and if the dept doesn't come get them then FM MUST deliver it to them

they are only suppose to have one file maintenance clerk everyday and that is the lead if there are more EVERYDAY, then it's a waste of money and hours.
there are only two days of the week that tags need to be done which is monday and wednesdays (ad change day), and usually there should be 3-5 people depending on the hours.
in my store they come in at midnight to do tags that day and leave at 830.

technically it really doesn't matter, if management doesn't say anything then you can't really let it get to you.

We only had two openers in produce the other day and management forced one to assist with conditioning the store because night crew is too slow to finish the truck and condition the store. Is it produce's job to help condition grocery? If produce is forced to help, then file maintenance should as well. Dairy had to help condition grocery too, as did Drug/GM. This is a regular thing with grocery not finishing their work. Why do the two file maintenance clerks get to just take their time with their job? Why can't one of them help out with stuff like this? It seems unfair and I don't understand why management doesn't expect them to be team players when they expect others like me to drop what I'm doing to finish other peoples jobs... and does anyone come and help me (or any of other departments) catch up after helping out elsewhere in the store? No. I'm so tired of this and that's why I don't bother to try that hard anymore as it only puts more work on me and nothing more.
