I am hearing rumors that we either will get raises in January or March and they could possibly be retroactive. Not sure of the amount but I keep hearing $9.00-hope it is true. If we don't get something substantial in the new contract, we are SO close to a strike it isn't even funny!!

So these raises are separate from the new contract negotiations in March? Under what conditions would we strike?

When i was hired in November our union steward told us that in March pay would be going up to 9 an hour. Also on my first day on the floor I was shadowing the Front End Lead and he told me that pay was moving up to 9 an hour too. If we dont get the pay bump I'm probably gonna go ahead and start looking for other jobs. Kroger is the only place in my area still paying min wage and there really isnt any benefits at all for part time work.

If this is true and Kroger's minimum wage goes up to $9 an hour, then the pay rate for those that have been with Kroger for a while better also go up.  I have been with Kroger for almost 5 years and I am a back-up Gm manager and I am only making $11 an hour right now.  I have 13 weeks left to be maxed out though, but still if all the new hires will instantly go up to $9 an hour, I am going to be extremely angry.  I hope that everyone will get a raise to what ever current job step they are at, so that people that have been here a while get the roughly the same $2 raise per hour.

I'm the Local 1000, but I'm also hearing that there is supposed to be a two to three dollar an hour pay raise increase that is said to kick in come January. Maybe all Kroger Company associates across the different divisions will be getting a multiple dollar an hour raise in the new year? At least we don't have to really wait that much longer to find out, but fingers crossed!

I would think the company would hype up the raises to increase morale. Surprises just don't seem becoming of a corporation of this size

They are going to start negotiating the new contract in March. I told our union rep that we needed higher hourly, and profit sharing. This company is making money hadn over foot and we aren't seeing a dime of it!
