Been with the company for two years, last time it snowed, I merely walked to work. No problem. It was just snow.
But the roads are nothing but ice right now. Especially ours.
We can't even get the car out of our parking spot because it keeps sliding back in and all over the place. Our street is covered in nothing but ice. You can't walk on it. And we've got no power.
And school is closed too. Some through Tuesday as, the ice won't melt until then....
Im pretty sure I can make it in Tuesday no problem, but I've got a 6am tomorrow.... thoughts?
Well think about your safety and your family's safety first. If you really can't get to work, then call off for the day. I think if they know you live within walking distance though it isn't going to go over so well.. but then again I don't know your whole situation. Also I live in MI where ice and snow is 100% normal, so we have ways to take care of it and most people know how to drive on it.
Anyways, I doubt Kroger would call you to tell you not to go to work. So it's up to you.
I wouldn't risk it. I've lived in both the city and the country. And I was the same way. Lived within walking distance of work. One day I got called in early due to everyone else couldn't make it. Headed out the door, slipped and fell, and gashed my hand on a jagged piece of ice. I swore never again. If you don't have any power and can't even make it out your front door then call in.
