I have worked at King Soopers for over 10 years and one would think that King Soopers would respect the face that I have dedicated My life to working for them especially since I have gone out of My way to please Customers who are verbally abusive, and condescending to us but their only concern is about making a healthy profit, but they do not. Since Russ Dispense has retired and passed the torch to Dennis Gibson in late 2016 the working environment has become increasingly worse, Now we have a program known as the 3 A's which are by the Company's definition as Acknowledge, Appreciate, and Assist, but really mean Allow Abuse Always.
Some of the Customer Behaviors toward us that Management encourages and rewards are as follows:
1) When we have difficulty scanning an item there are Customers(Mostly Elderly) who think it is funny to say "It won't scan, it must be free."
Do they not understand that We've heard that statement millions of times already and they are not the First or Last person to say that?
2) Shoving Coupons in our faces, The same customers who do this have most likely been told that it is rude to shove things in people's faces
yet they insist upon this behavior because, Management will reward their behavior by giving them a gift card if we react to this behavior
and then We employees who react will be taken upstairs to Management's Office, possibly written up, and possibly fired.
This gives us reason to believe that Management may be recruiting these individuals to come to our Checkstands and act this way because
The Goal of New Upper Management is to provoke us so that they can get rid of us who have invested our lives in working for the company
because they are trying to replace us with Machines while we are LIVING ON THE STREETS WITH NO PENSION AND NO OTHER INCOME!
3) Reaching Over our Checkstands and waving their soopercards over our scanners: The customer who does this is usually the customer who
says they are being helpful when in fact they are being Rude and being a nuisance, This customer is usually wealthy and looks down on us
because our Parents not privileged enough to afford to give us an Ivy League Education. The Customer who usually does this has no respect
for the Working Class whatsoever, again Their behavior is rewarded by Management if we react to this obviously rude behavior.
2) A WIDE VARIETY OF DISCRIMINATION AND FAVORITISM
IGNORED BY CORPORATE OFFICIALS
One would think that since a majority of King Soopers locations in the State of Colorado are Unionized Corporate Officials would be in tune with the fact
that there are certain behaviors of Management give the appearance of favoritism, but they still insist upon certain discriminatory behaviors which show
the appearance of a goal to create a rivalry in order to weaken the Union's ability to secure a strong and fair collective bargaining agreement. The company
appears to have the goal to rid themselves of People who have worked for the Company for more than 10 years, and especially those who have been hired
before March of 2005 because They cost the Company more money, one example of the rivaly King Soopers has caused is that those who have been hired
by the Company before March of 2005 will be allowed to take 5 weeks of vacation after 20 years of service while those who are hired after March of 2005
will receive 3 weeks of vacation after 8 years of service will receive 3 weeks of vacation and will not get any more weeks of vacation even when that Worker
has worked for 20 Years will STILL ONLY RECEIVE 3 WEEKS OF VACATION!
You May or May not sympathize with that fact, and what makes this issue complicated is that the discriminatory behaviors vary depending on the individual
supervisor on duty, in other words, There is discriminatory behavior in favor those who have worked for the company for more than 20 years, and the discriminatrory
behavior could be against them, again, this depends on the behavior of the individual supervisor.
The Various Discriminatory Behaviors are as Follows which again
could be in favor of or against "Old Timers" and could be for are
against "2nd Tier Employees.":
1) An Employee who has a Relative,Spouse, or Friend working in Management or Non Management is most likely not subjected to discipline when frequently calling in sick,
and if this individual is punctual and reports for work on a regular basis They are allowed to work the easier tasks, and while the rest of us are working hard, The favored
Employee is allowed to stand around while socializing with Other Employees, or their Friends who come to visit them while on Company Time. What makes this worse is that
at some King Soopers locations, Spouses, Relatives, and Friends are allowed to work in the same department and on the same shift. There are other store locations for example
where an APC Clerk (Short for All Purpose Clerk), Courtesy Clerk, Deli Clerk....ect may be room mates with their Supervisor who is in the same department, again, This individual
is not required to perform required duties as those of us who do not have Relatives, Spouses or Friends who are in Management or Non Management also working for King Soopers.
2) There are times when People with Highest Senority are allowed to be late for Work on a Daily Basis, but when one of us who are in Low to Mid Senority call in sick or are late on
fewer occasions we are subject to discipline, Then we are more likely to call upon Union Representation and The Union is made aware of the disparity in Management Actions and
will not mention this in disciplinary meetings, Chances are that the person with High Senority has not even had to call upon Union Representation because Management is aware
of the frequent tardiness of the Employee with the Highest Senority because that person may have relatives, spouses, or friends working in Management or Non Management at King
Soopers also.
3) Favoritism toward the prettiest Youngest Female Employee, and the Youngest Male Employee who is a "Handsome All American Boy"
This individual usually has the least amount of Senority, They are usually favored because perhaps they may look good for advertising in TV Commercials, Posters, and Weekly Ads.
They also call in sick on a regular basis, and when they are at work they are automatically given tasks that are much easier than the tasks in their job description. for Example,
A Young Female Courtesy Clerk may be allowed to remain in the Checkstand which is NOT in their job description because She does not want to bag groceries or gather carts
and since the Head Clerk who is just as shallow,( this could be a Female Head Clerk who is older and pretty or a Male Head Clerk who has an attraction to Her beauty) will pamper
Her, suffice it to say that the "All American Male" is also given the same favorable treatment.
Anyone who is thinking of applying for employment at King Soopers should read this and take in consideration that when You are New, You will be treated with respect, especially
if You are the Young Attractive Female, or the All american Boy, or if You have Relatives, Friends or a Spouse who is in Management or Non Management at King Soopers then
You will have it made at least until Your Spouse, Friend or Relative retires or resign, and that does not apply to You then You will be required to work harder than the rest and
the more Years of Your life You give to King Soopers, the more Management will try to set You up in order to try and force You to resign or upset you in order to manipulate You
into saying or doing something so that they can fire You which is an effort on the part of King Soopers Corporate Officials to save money.
How does Management try to set Employees up in order to fire them
or make them quit?
1) Create rivalries as mentioned about favoritism, in this piece.
2) They will recruit their friends to visit Your work area and perform some of the acts( as mentioned in the
part referring to Abusive and Nuisance Customers) in order to provoke a negative reaction from You, They will
wait until You are under the Security Camera.
3) Reduce Your Hours so drastically so that you are unable to make a decent living without regard to Your senority.
4) Constantly pester You about frivolous customer complaints such as "She let out a sigh." or "I didn't like the look
on Her face." or "She didn't smile."
5) Sending Secret Shoppers to Your work area to find any fault they possibly can with You when You are working as
hard as you can and doing your best to please the customer.
6) Bring Managers to Your store who are known for firing people.
Is it the goal of King Soopers Corporation to rid themselves of Employees who have been hired before March of 2005 before 2019 thus saving money?
it is their goal to rid themselves of Employees with 3 or More Years of Employment in order to constantly staff the store with people between the ages of 16 and 21?
If these questions are asked of King Soopers Corporate Officials they will of course answer "no." and then most likely say "That is not true."

1. Yeah a lot of customers say this. They are just trying to make an uncomfortable situation a bit more humorous. Yes it's annoying, but the customer means well. Get over it.
2. Yeah people do that too but again, get over it because it will just continue.
3. If you would scan their savings card first like you are supposed to do, this would not be a problem for you.
As for the rest of your post, can't comment on it because different areas have different contracts relating to vacations, points for calling out, etc. The best advice I can give you is to stop letting the small stuff get to you or you're going to be miserable in any job. If working for this company truly makes you this unhappy, perhaps you need to find employment elsewhere.

Managers will always defend and reward Abusive Customers because Managers get their kicks from abusing Employees and when they see Customers abuse the Employees it is like they are watching a Porno.
