Hi, long time lurker, first ish time posting I think?
Anyway, we recently had techs into our stores to check the systems and update the pin pads. Ever since, certain cards (haven't tried to find the common link here, because it happens far too often) with the chip make the pinpad stop working.
The first problem (seperate from the one above) is when they insert their card and the reader doesnt recognize it or has a malfuntion. Lately, we have to make it fail 3 times just to be able to slide some cards. The system seems to think they're cancelling their order by either hitting cancel or taking the card out - which leads to a painful few minutes of telling the customer to take it out, try it again, take it out, try it again, over and over again.
When the pinpad crashes, it's only because of a chip card. The next order the pinpad works fine, even when it gives "CHECK PIN PAD", the pin pad is responsive.. we have to suspend these orders to go to another register just to finish the transaction, then go back to the first register you were on, and take the next customers order. Because the pin pad works, but apparently not for some chip cards.
It's bizarre but it drives me insane! Has anyone else had this problem? Oh, also we do not have the latest software for Uscan/Pinpads. The new system them came out with which is mostly white backgrounds at SCO. We have the older, robotic, more annoying ones with the handheld and computer moniter.
