If you're talking about a department head or leader, I don't think you can bump somebody from the position. If the position is posted as an opening, then you can bump anybody who has applied and has less seniority than you do but once the job is filled, you can't take the job away from that person. it would be a pretty $hitty thing to do, don't you think? As far a being a regular clerk, you can still claim hours on people with less seniority though.

A $hitty thing to do? Do you understand that this is Kroger we're talking about? They pull bs and shady stuff like this all the time.

You had an employee bbq yesterday? Thanks for telling the night crew...
Human resources, the District Union representative and a few corporate managers will have a meeting with all the employees of the store that is closing and should explain how they are going to place the employees.
Do not believe the rumors about losing your job. Wait for HR to say something to you. I do not think Kroger wants to lose seasoned employees. A lot of the employees that got moved like their new stores better.
Are you full time or part time?
This is how it worked at my store. My store closed and opened a new Marketplace near the old building. Everyone had to re apply for their position. Only three of the Department Managers made it into the new store.
Full time people that did not move into the new store were offered positions at the three nearest stores. Lower seniority people at those stores were moved to other stores. Basically, the new store took a lot of employees from the other stores. People got moved around to different stores until the work force balanced out.
Most of the part time employees got into the new store. Everyone was offered a position at one of the three nearest stores or even further if they desired.
There are Department Manager bids being posted constantly. Most of the Department Managers from the old store replaced the Department Managers that were brought into the new store. As a Department Manager, one can be sent to manage a store on the other side of the state. Human Resources tries to avoid that tho.
