I think they would if they caught them, especially if it's an employee. I haven't heard of any shop lifters at ours though. Half the cameras are dummy cameras.  They need more cameras

There's a lot of shoplifting going on in my store. One of them was supposed to be going to court about it soon but we shall see if anything actually happens. Last I heard, the police hadn't actually trespassed her yet.

Most of the shoplifting definitely occurs in the bigger city stores. There was some in my old store but not like this.

They really should push these things more. "But we'll lose customers!" Shut up and prosecute the mf that you caught shoplifting. They need to not be so nice. Paying customers are paying customers, they are not afraid of being prosecuted for shoplifting because they are abiding by the law.

the loss prevention at my store is a damned joke. the amount of ripped open medicine, food products, etc. i find stuffed behind product on the shelves is mind boggling. there are so many blind spots and dummy cameras, you don't even have to bend over backwards to get away with stealing. a certain someone keeps taking one of those tiny shot sized wine bottles out of the four pack and leaves them behind the sparkling water in the water aisle. that's a lot of risk for an overpriced and undersized bottle of booze. also, for some reason, i find a lot of ripped open boxes of condoms. i guess people don't realize that there's literally zero age limit to purchase them, or perhaps they're just too embarassed!

Not a clue what they do at my store. But I do know they let folks eat stuff throughout the store before they pay for it. And I swear I've seen too many times to count, moms letting their kids go in the doughnut case and eat one right on out of there and go to town on it. And as large as our store is, I know that isn't even going to make it to the check out counter at all. So I guess it's all good for particular customers and they don't care as long as they come back and eventually buy something next time.
